Each day we are living our lives through our nervous system (brain, spinal cord, nerves.) Each second, minute, hour of the day, our body is adapting to our natural environmental surroundings. Whether that is still within mother, or as a child, or now an adult; our body has to be able to adapt to the temperature changes, to digesting foods, to exercise workouts, etc..... What regulates the body's ability to do all that, is the nervous system. It is the connection between the brain and the body that required for maximum function and development and ultimately the ability to adapt.

Why do children need chiropractic care?
Movement of baby's spine is required for proper brain function, specifically the coordination of activities such as concentration and learning, emotions, motor control and organ function (including immune organs). Each vertebrae fit together to form the spine to protect the nervous system so that the information produced in your brain may filter down your spinal cord and out over your nerves. This information is responsible for growth, repair, and healing in your entire body. When vertebrae are out of their natural alignment, nerves become stretched or twisted, stressed. This vital communication system in the body is disrupted.
A vertebral subluxation and the subsequent neurological interference are most often created during the birthing process itself. Even the most natural births are somewhat traumatic to the infant and may cause damage. That damage does not necessarily cause any symptoms, but does begin to alter the mechanic of the spine and impair neurological pathways. Our Chiropractors specialize in correcting the subluxation so that normal body functions may take place.
When should children first be checked?
We advise that children be checked for vertebral subluxation soon after birth due to the potential damaging effects of all births. In fact, it is a common occurrence for us to be present to check children very soon after both hospital and home births.
Early neuro-spinal check ups and adjustments when necessary help prevent an accumulation of damage for occurring in the child’s vital nerve system. By having neuro-spinal check ups throughout childhood, your child will have a better opportunity to be as healthy as possible as they grow, develop and adapt to the changes of life. A regular schedule of care is beneficial for all children and adults.
Does it hurt?
Chiropractic adjustments should never hurt. Chiropractors who have a special interest in seeing families use very specific, gentle techniques.
On children, the force is as light as the pressure you could put on your eyeball without causing any discomfort.
